Pastor's Notes (June / July 2011)

posted Dec 18, 2014, 3:05 PM by Henry McTague
Dearest friends in Christ,

I am so grateful for the wisdom that inspired the church to provide me with Sabbatical leave following 5 years of service. I do find that I am weary in my spirit and am truly looking forward to some different work and the opportunity for rest and renewal. I will be praying for all of you during my three months away and will eagerly anticipate worshiping with you all on September 18th. I would appreciate your prayers in return.

The Diaconate has worked hard to fill the pulpit with some familiar (and one new) faces over the next months. Rev. Larry Brickner-Wood, Rev. Brendon Bass, Rev. Roger Burkhart and Debra Moore will be sharing worship with you between June 19th and September 11th. They will bring their particular perspectives and energy to all of you, and it promises to be a rich time. I have also received commitments from Rev. Maren Tirabassi, Rev. Brendon Bass and Rev. Martin Mahoney to provide emergency pastoral care and support for the deacons as they offer congregational care during my absence. You can certainly participate in this work by letting Sally Cedarholm, Rod MacKay or Katrina Rhodes of any congregational concerns or needs.

Over the months of my time away, I will not be reading church-related emails or engaging in any church-related activities. This will be difficult for me, but certainly necessary if I am to truly be on sabbatical. I have full confidence in the members of the Diaconate to care for you all, and for you to care for one another, until I return. That being said, if our paths meet in Market Basket or Planet Fitness, please say “hi.”

Wishing you every good blessing,

Pastor Gail
