Dearest Friends in Christ,

After conversations with the Diaconate and Trustees, I have decided to participate in a
pilgrimage to Assisi, Italy at the end of May.  This trip is being offered by a company called “Executive Soul” and is facilitated by a faculty member at Andover Newton Theological School.  It offers participants 10 days in Assisi, visiting and learning about the ministries of St. Francis and St. Clare, as well as time for relaxing and reflecting, and is a wonderful opportunity for spiritual growth.

My particular goal for this time away is to develop an intentional spiritual practice for
myself – what I hope will be an important step toward better self care.  It will be glorious to spend some time in the beautiful town of Assisi and to absorb some of its peace and tranquility.  It is my hope to set up a blog site where I can share some of my experiences with all of you.  When that is created, I will let you know the web address and you can feel connected to my time away.  My
itinerary will also be available for those who are interested.  This will not be vacation time, but
rather I will be using my annual study time – another step toward better self care.

I will be mentioning this pilgrimage in worship over the next few weeks to ensure that you all know where I will be and what I will be experiencing.  Please feel free to ask me any questions that you might have.  Additionally, I will be glad to do an afternoon or evening presentation that reflects on this pilgrimage upon my return, if it is desired.  My time away will be from the evening of May 24th through June 7th.
