June/July 2015

Dearest Friends in Christ,

The hectic pace of the spring months is about to give way to summer – long awaited and deeply appreciated, especially this year!  Vacation Bible School promises to be a great, fun-filled experience and it will be here before we know it.  The weeks of June, July and August give us precious opportunities to just be – as family, as friends, as community.  It is an important time of respite and relaxation, of playing and enjoying leisurely days and warm, firefly-filled evenings, of family reunions, weddings, and celebrations for no reason at all.  The summer season is surely alive with the Spirit, as we reflect on the wonderful gift of life that is God’s present to us.

In the church, we will take a breath of that Spirit, as well.  In the fall planning that will begin in July, we will take time to focus on the blessings and challenges of these past months, as we look forward to what the Spirit will bring our way in the fall.  Putting this planning in place and watching it come to fruition is always a satisfying process.

A couple of important dates to remember for June and July:

June 7th – Music Sunday

June 21st – Children’s Sunday and the beginning of our summer worship at 9:30

July 5th – commissioning of our youth mission trip participants
