Dearest Friends in Christ,

Graduations, Confirmation, Baptisms, Weddings – these are the moments that the next months will hold for several members of the church.  Each is an event that marks a time of transition or change from “what was” to “what will be.”  It is so wonderful to celebrate these transformational times that fill us with joy and excitement, and perhaps just a tiny bit of anxiety as we look to the “what will be.”  Of course, the assurance of our faith is that God is with us in every moment and every detail.  Even if the “what will be” turns out differently that we planned, we can be comforted that God’s dreams for us will not be denied.  We can trust in the future, knowing that God is in charge and that the Holy Spirit will surely guide us through the unexpected if we can let go and follow.

The process of letting go and letting God lead is not always easy to accomplish – it is easier to say than to do.  And yet, that is the goal of a mature faith; to be able to rely on God’s grace and guidance for the living of these days.  What a gift - to be able to relax and enjoy each moment for the blessing that it is, rather than worrying our minutes and hours away.  Often, these occasions of transition can be a valuable reminder to do just that – be in the moment and cherish the day that has been given to us.

May the next months provide those opportunities and more to each of you.
