January 2015

Dearest Friends in Christ,

Welcome to 2015!  This is a fresh, new year, with new ways of serving the Lord waiting to be discovered.  The Confirmation Class has decided to explore a new mission outreach to the community around us.  Once a month during January, February and March, they will be offering a hot meal to shut-ins.  The local police departments will help us to discern individuals/couples who are appropriate for this program, and if the
congregation as any suggestions for recipients, please let me know.  The confirmands and mentors will be asking for help with purchasing, preparing and delivering the meals, so be alert to these opportunities for serve others.

I would also like to make 2015 the “Year of Invitation.”  Over the past 12 months,
members of the Vitality Team have worked with a coach, Paul Nickerson, to learn about ways in which we can widen the presence of the church in the community.  What we have come to understand it that most new people come to church because a person they knew invited them – and perhaps even gave them a ride!  As we move into this new month and year, I would encourage you to think about your circle of friends and
neighbors and consider who you might be able to invite to church.  If you are excited about what Christ is doing in your life, it is perfectly okay to let others know of your joy.  Excitement and joy are contagious!  Let’s not keep this blessing to ourselves – let’s share and see what wonders the Holy Spirit has in store for us.

Blessings,

Pastor Gail
