Dearest Friends in Christ,

The season of Advent preparation for Christmas is upon us and, once more, our thoughts are filled with the music and symbols that are so familiar and dear.  The Christmas cartoon specials have begun to air on the television, although in all fairness, Frosty the Snowman is really not symbolic of Christmas.  However, clearly the season of celebration is here, and we are drawn into it – willingly or unwillingly.  And in the midst of the excitement of gift giving and receiving, Christmas card stamping and mailing, baking, baking and more baking, quietly in softly lit chapels, churches, and cathedrals around the world, the birth of a sweet baby will be remembered.  The Son of God, born to be the Savior and Redeemer of the world, will make his peaceful entry into our hearts once again.  We will be filled with nostalgia as we reminisce about the Christmas Eve’s of our childhood, pause to remember with longing the beloved presence of those to whom we have said good-bye, and feel the deep joy within as we celebrate God’s great love made manifest in the gift of a singular life – love that has no end.

So I wish you the blessings of the Christmas season – hope, love, peace and joy.  May you know enough hope to always keep you dreaming; may you receive enough love that your cup continually overflows; may you experience enough peace that your heart is filled with contentment; may you be filled with enough joy that everyone that you meet will be inspired and blessed by your presence.
