Music Committee

February, hard to believe!  Here we go again.  Another year already racing by, so don’t let the important closing date, Feb. 22nd , slip by without securing your hymnal to be dedicated or memorialized to that special person in your life.  The church needs support to make this a successful transition to the new hymnals.

Again we are calling for all young people!  If you or a friend  sings or plays an instrument or wants to sing or play this is a great opportunity to be a part of either the Junior choir or Junior bell choir.  Doesn’t cost a thing, you don’t have to be a member of the church AND you get a great education from two very qualified directors.  Just call the church office for more information and how to make that connection!

Greetings from the choirs!

We are happy to be settling back into our routine after a very busy Christmas season. I wanted to take this opportunity to warmly welcome anyone who has been thinking about singing in choir. The new year is a great time to start! I would like to especially welcome any kids who enjoy singing. Junior Choir is a fun way to get to know other families in the congregation and in the community. Along with practicing our music, we work on yoga poses, play games, and celebrate birthdays and holidays. Stop by any time! Junior Choir rehearses Thursdays from 5-6 and Senior Choir rehearses from 7-8:30. Feel free to email me at roxanneleeoconnor at gmail dot comif you have any questions.

BELL NEWS:

Starting on February 3, Handbell Director Jane Goodwin invites anyone in grades 3 and up, through adults, who have never rung handbells, or who used to ring but may have forgotten how, to come to FUN WITH BELLS and learn, or relearn, how to ring.  Absolutely no prior experience is necessary, and the emphasis will be on how enjoyable ringing can be (and the fact that it’s easier than it looks!)  The four week sessions’ meetings will be for half an hour only, on Tuesdays February 3, 10, 17, and 24 from 6-6:30 pm.   This is an ideal way to get a good idea of whether you, and/or your children, would like to do more ringing later.  Give it a try!  You’ll be very welcome…and this is not limited to Church Members.  (For these 4 weeks current  Junior ringers will arrive at 6:30 for their regular practice, which will also last only a half hour and end at 7 pm, unless they’d like to come at 6 and help out teaching beginners!)
