Worship Ministry‎ > ‎

September 2016

As I assume the responsibility for coordinating our Worship Ministry on September 19, I am ever mindful of Linda Martin’s outstanding leadership of this ministry since our new governance structure was voted in by the congregation at last February’s annual meeting.  Linda has literally gone “above & beyond the call” on many occasions over these past seven months while still directing our church’s annual Vacation Bible School, not to mention her multiple responsibilities outside of the church.  Thank you, Linda for all that you have done for us.  I am happy to report that she will continue to fill some roles within the ministry after September 19 for which we are all very grateful.

Not to make this sound like a “State of the Ministry” address, but I can report to you that recruiting readers, greeters, and ushers; acolyte recruitment & training; communion service support; worship supplies; regular worship service, special service, and funeral planning; filling the pulpit with supply pastors, as required; altar flower coordination; wedding coordination; and music ministry to include care of our musical instruments are all working like well-oiled machines thanks to Lynda DuVall, Bob & Gail Smith, Rick Smith; Linda Martin, Pastors Gail & Cat, Brian Burke, Marianne Banks & Linda Seedner, Kim Rydzewski & Linda MacKay, and Roxanne O’Connor, Sally Barney, & Andrew Lefoley respectively. How fortunate that this ministry should be filled with such dedicated staff & volunteers. If anyone would be interested in helping with any of these tasks within the Worship Ministry, we would be very happy to add you as members of this team.

Rally Day and Heritage Sunday, both on September 18, will soon be here with everything at church getting back into full swing with two services at 8:30 & 10:30 following our summer schedule. We are in for a special treat that day as Sally Barney will be giving a history of our church’s influence in Lee throughout the years and the choir will present special music for Heritage Sunday.  The hymns will be special, too and we will be welcoming Pastor Gail back to the pulpit following her sabbatical. All of this in conjunction with Rally Day as the church mouse has informed me that our Special Events & Promotions Coordinator, Marianne Banks has some new and special plans for this annual event.  Please stay tuned!
