October 2012

See those people scurrying around the church before, during, and after the service?  They're the ones who usher, welcome people, put up hymn numbers, set the disc up to record the service, ring the bell, set up and serve communion, and assist Pastor Gail in meeting the needs of the congregation.  You could be part of our team for next year...think about offering yourself to help serve on God's team on the Lee Church Diaconate.  Just let Pastor Gail or one of the co-chairs know of your interest.  We're a fun team to be on!

Pastor Gail has been traveling in the Holy Land and will be back with us on the 23rd of September.  During her absence, Rev. Larry Brickner-Wood and Rev. Gene Hebert filled the pulpit and provided inspiration during our services.  We are back to two services as of September 16th.

On Sunday, September 16th, we celebrated Rally Day and welcomed Brandy Irish-Gerjuoy as our Praise Team and Senior Choir director.  It was good to have the choir back in the loft offering their great harmonies.  Acolyte training for youth in grades 3 and up will commence soon under the capable direction of Rick Smith.  Contact him if your child is interested in being an Acolyte.  We continue to operate the Wilkinson Food Pantry, serving 22 families in August.

Two ideas shared with the Deacons this month:

Women’s Fellowship Group - On Tues., Oct. 2nd a meeting will be held at 7 pm in the library to establish a Women's Fellowship group.  This group will meet in the evening once a month to give women of the church, who can't meet during the day, a chance to socialize and to work on projects to benefit our church family.   This would be a good opportunity for women new to the church to meet new people and enjoy fellowship.

{Prayer Chain} - Another idea in the works is a prayer group or prayer chain for our church. Contact Pastor Gail if you wish to participate.
