Diaconate (October 2011)

The Deacons were pleased to welcome back a relaxed and refreshed Pastor Gail to the Sept. 12th meeting. We are appreciative of the support we've received from our supply pastors during the 12 week sabbatical.

We continue to record the prayer concerns and celebrations to pass on to Sally, our administrative assistant, for inclusion in the “Weekly Update” which is e-mailed to our congregation. If you are not receiving this but would like to, let Sally know at the church office.

The Wilkinson Food Pantry continues to be open the first and third Monday of each month from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. We sincerely appreciate your donations and those we pick up from the box at MarketBasket. Barbara Hartwell reports that we served 26 families in August, representing 48 individuals. We received 2 cases of USDA goods for the pantry. Thank you for continuing to support this important ministry of the church.

A small subcommittee of the Diaconate will be actively studying the Lotsa Helping Hands website this month and will share their findings and recommendations at our next meeting. This might be a good vehicle for the church and/or individuals to help families during periods of need.

The Congregational Care team continues to send cards and offer support to church members who can use help, sympathy, or encouragement. Visits are made to homes and nursing homes or hospitals as needed.

Over the summer the church family was glad to hear of the birth of Darlene Bernier's new baby, Jayden. We are saddened by the passing of Dood Betts and Armand Lebeau. A memorial service for Dood will be held on Sept. 24.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding worship services or if we can be of any help to you, please feel free to contact any member of the Diaconate.
