Diaconate Notes (December 2010)

posted Dec 18, 2014, 1:19 PM by Henry McTague

It is Advent – one of the most joyous times in the church. There is so much excitement for all of us at this time of year. Families are re-uniting for the holiday, the perfect gift is sought for those that we love and Christmas music abounds. This is the time of year that we find compassion in our hearts and miracles seem to appear before our very eyes.

We all know the story of the three Wise Men and the miracle they found as they followed the star to Bethlehem. It is with this theme that Pastor Gail has chosen “The Stars Tell The Story” for this year’s Advent passages. How appropriate for us to read daily about the stars and the significance of each! We will learn about Perfect Star, The Fallen Star, The Promised Star and the Morning Star – all sharing a purpose toward the miracle of Jesus birth.

It can be very difficult to slow down during this time of the year. There are many expectations for all of us as we prepare for Christmas Day. However, I encourage all of us to stop and look to the stars. They tell us a very important story – one with meaning and full of miracles!

Merry Christmas!
