Welcome to Lee New Hampshire
Lee Church Congregational is located in the center of Lee,
New Hampshire, a small town with a population of about 4,300.
In close proximity are the larger Seacoast towns of Dover,
Portsmouth, and Exeter, the major shopping and business
districts for the area. The University of New Hampshire, with
over 15,000 students, is next door in Durham and attracts
many people for employment, higher education, and arts and
cultural activities. Lee and its neighboring communities are
about an hour from Boston, a half hour from the ocean, and less
than two hours from the White Mountains. This desirable a
highly location, with its rural character, low crime rate, and
rated school system (Oyster River Cooperative School
District), has attracted many families to the area. In the last
ten years the communities that the church serves have grown
about 11 percent and growth is projected to continue.
Pressures to develop have spurred local efforts to conserve
remaining open space while trying to keep taxes down and
housing affordable.
