WORKSHOP OF WONDERS: BUILD AND IMAGINE WITH GOD!

During the week of July 7 - 11, we had as many as 38 children take over the church for our annual week of VBS. In addition to the children we had 5 middle and high school students helping in various capacities to keep things running smoothly. Add to that the 13 adults who faithfully showed up everyday to lead the classes and centers and you have an idea of how successful we were. In fact, this was the most successful year we’ve had since I took over as director.

Everyday started in the sanctuary with singing and a Bible story. From there everyone went to their classes followed by centers, snacks and back to the sanctuary for more singing, announcements and good-byes. The centers consisted of crafts, cooking, music and missions. We packed a lot into those 2 hours!

Our Mission Project this year was Habitat for     Humanity. Everyone got to paint a bird house representing a house built by Habitat for our “village” as they learned about our mission. Children (and adults) brought in pennies, nickels, and dimes,   OH MY, to collect a total of $100.87 to donate to Habitat for Humanity. Their money has either purchased 2 low-flow toilets or a kitchen sink (We’ll let the folks at Habitat decide which).

It was a wonderful week enjoyed by all. However, it could not have happened had it not been for these wonderful people who gave of their time and talent to bring it all to life: Roxanne Prisby (music director), Georgia Kerns (storyteller), Phyllis White and Judy Belanger (teachers for pre-school), Jen Spires (teacher for K - 2nd grade), Debbie Clark (teacher for grades 3 & 4), Jill Paré (teacher for grade 5), Gail Smith (teacher for crafts), Phil Sanborn and Nancy MacLean (teachers for missions), Barbara Mariacher and Marian Kelsey (teachers for cooking), Ben Belanger (student aide for K-2). Rebecca Gowing (student aide for grades 3-4), Hope Mariacher (student aide for music)    Samantha Clark (student aide for crafts), Clarissa Gowing (student photographer) and Sally Cedarholm (office support from May through conclusion of program).

This is a great annual program put on by our church which reaches children in the community whose only exposure to church is through VBS. Thank you all for your support.

Gratefully,

Linda Martin
