Autumn is on its way!

Students and educators: Be sure to bring you school bags to church on Sunday, September 9 as we return to our 2 services and Sunday school. We have some special plans to welcome everyone back to Sunday school.

Our Backpack Blessing will be  held during both services at 8:30 and 10:30. We will bless school bags of students and educators who have just begun the new school year throughout our local schools. Everyone will receive a small token to keep for the new school year. This little memento can help you remember that God is by your side through all of the fun adventures and challenging moments of your life. The members of your Lee Church family have promised to pray for you and keep you in their hearts and minds as you journey through this school year. We look forward to hearing about your experiences, supporting you through struggles, and celebrating your successes. *Sunday, September 9

Our Third Graders will receive their Bibles during this first service of the new school year. These young readers will be able to use their new Bibles in church, Sunday school, and at home to explore the scriptures that guide our understanding of God and the world he created for us. This annual gift from Lee Church marks a special moment in our young students lives as they take another step in their relationship with God and his church. Older students should support the occasion for their classmates by bringing their Lee Church Bibles with them in their backpacks or Sunday school tote bags. *Sunday, September 9

As we begin our first Sunday school classes of the school year, you will also be asked to complete the annual registration forms. While filling out these forms may seem tedious, the few minutes you spend to complete them allow us give our students the safest, most appropriate and rewarding experience in our classrooms and at our special events. The first few families to return their forms will receive a special prize.

Krista Butts and I are planning a project-based program for our Sunday school classes this year. We will still use the same themes and readings as Pastor Gail shares with you in the sanctuary, maintaining this valued connection with the many generations of our church family. The program should allow us to make better use of the time we have with our students as we provide a variety of new and traditional experiences for our young people. They will have continue to explore the Bible and better understand  what it is to be a Christian in their lives. Teachers will have more opportunities to collaborate with one another and we will intentionally mix age groups to support and inspire one another as they learn. Please feel free to attend our upcoming teacher meeting or reach out to me or Krista if you would like to be a part of this new program.

I realize as this hot summer comes to an end, it has been restorative and rewarding to spend some extra time with my own growing kids. Now as we all embark on the many responsibilities and possibilities that autumn brings, we carry those summer memories with us with fondness. May God provide us with the energy and perspective to step into the next experiences he has in line for us.

Brightest blessings,

Jill Paré
