December 2013

The season of advent is upon us, and the Christian Education Committee is bustling with the preparations for this exciting part of our church year. We hope you and your family can join us for some of the fun events we have planned to help our church family celebrate together.

Living Nativity

We will continue our church’s cherished tradition of the Living Nativity on Sunday, December 15 at 1:30pm (with December 22 as our snow date, if necessary). Once again local animals will assist the young members of our church as they bring the spirit of Christmas into our community with our special reenactment. Join in the show by singing along with the traditional music and then enjoy some hot cocoa and cookies inside Fellowship Hall after the performance.

**There will be a meeting between services on Dec.2 in room 4 for all of those interested in helping us with the Living Nativity. Many hands and minds have joined together over the years to help make this event a success. This is a chance for all of us to coordinate our efforts, past and present, to bring our nativity to life.

Sunday School

Teaching is a rewarding way to share your faith. We are always welcoming new people to teach our children. If you feel called to teach, either as a substitute or as a teacher, please see the CE Committee.  We are so blessed to have a group of children that are full of life and questions. They not only learn from the teachers but the teachers learn so much from them. Come and join in on the experience.

Nursery Update

While the nursery continues to be a playful place during our 10:30 worship, our 8:30 volunteers have not had any infants or toddlers to join them on Sunday mornings. To better utilize the help of our volunteers, we will not have regular coverage scheduled for the nursery time during our early services until we find it to be necessary again. For now, we will have a plan in place if a young community member wants to use the room only on an as-needed basis.

Youth Group

The youth group is in full swing. We are excited to offer the opportunity for youth to connect with each other throughout the year. We have many mission projects, events, dinners, activities and mission trip planned for the upcoming year.

Here is the schedule for December and some photos from our resent Youth Group trip were the children had the opportunity to get to know each other better through a team building activity. The group went to Vertical Dreams in Manchester where they had the opportunity to rock climb.

8th Noon to 4:00 pm: Babysitting Fundraiser that gives parents the opportunity to shop. Pre-Registration is required.

15th A representative from Work Camp New England to speak between services about the July 13-19th Youth Group JR/SR High Mission Trip to Litchfield, NH. Members of the congregation are welcome to attend and ask questions.

22nd Noon to 2:00 pm: Holiday party with a Yankee Swap

28th or 29th: Ice Skating in Lee (time TBD)
