Each year seems to fly by faster and faster. I can not believe that we only have 1 ½ months left to Sunday school for 2009-2010. CE continues to be busy planning for the remainder of the year and for the summer Sunday program.

Memorial Day Sunday, 5/30, one service 9:30 AM. No regular Sunday school. One room school house will be offered. Please dress your children in clothes that you do not mind getting dirty as we may be planting the summer program garden.

Youth Group Meetings for May: Please join us and bring a friend.

May 1st: Toll booth fundraiser. More details to follow.

May 2nd: 2-4 PM Assist with spring clean up of church gardens with beautification committee. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and a pair of gloves.

May 14th: Plant Sale Dinner- work with Dr. Kerns on the dinner for the church. 4:30 to 8 PM. If you can come earlier, Dr. Kerns could use your help. You can get dropped off at the church after school to help.

CE volunteer Appreciation Sunday: On May 2nd during worship and coffee hour, CE will be celebrating the many volunteers who make the various CE programs possible. Please join us in thanking them for their valuable gifts to the learning of the church generations.

Confirmation: Confirmation will culminate on May 23rd with Confirmation Sunday. Confirmation class will be leading the 8:30 AM service. There will be a regular service at 10:30 AM. Mark your calendars to wear red on May 23rd, which is Pentecost Sunday.

Christian Education Sunday: The CE committee has renamed Children’s Sunday to Christian Education Sunday. CE Sunday will be held on June 13th with 2 services. The Jr. Sing and Ring and Youth Bell Choir will be performing at both services. At the 8:30 AM service, the children with their teachers will lead the service. At the 10:30 AM service, the teachers with assistance of the children present from the choirs and any others will lead the service.

Youth Group Mission Trip: The youth group mission trip had a very successful dinner and auction. They were able to raise enough money to cover their final payment for the July Mission trip. There are still opportunities for the congregation to assist with the trip. Please look for details in the weekly bulletin. For any questions regarding the Mission trip, please see Judy Belanger or Meg Reed.

VBS: Janet Lottmann will be directing the vacation bible school again this year. We are blessed to have Janet’s talent and enthusiasm to coordinate the VBS program each summer. VBS will be held July 12th- 16th. If you are available and willing to assist, please contact Janet Lottmann.

2010-2011 Sunday School Teachers: Recruitment for teaching Sunday school for 2010-2011 has begun. A few teachers, who have taught for a number of years, will not be returning next year. So, we are in the need of a few new teachers for next year. No experience needed in teaching. In many classes, we have teacher teams, which allows for sharing of the Sunday teaching. Please consider giving your time and energy to share your faith with youth of our church. It is a very rewarding experience.

In God’s Love,

Sheila K. Bennion
