Christian Ed Notes (February 2010)

posted Dec 18, 2014, 2:35 PM by Henry McTague

Each year, time seems to go more quickly than ever. It seems like we were just celebrating Christmas, welcoming the New Year, 2010 and celebrating Epiphany. Instead, I am sitting writing my article for the February Open Door and thinking about Lent, which will begin with Ash Wednesday on February 17th.

Lenten Mission Project: During Lent, the Sunday school children and Christian Youth Fellowship Group (CYF) will be collecting items to send care packages to soldiers overseas.  Please see the CE board for collection items to assist the youth in this very important mission project. The collection will culminate at the CE/Mission red, white and blue pot luck dinner on March 27th. Please plan to join us for a fun evening of fellowship.

Confirmation: Confirmation classes began on January 10th with 3 confirmands, Carlee Beck, Trisha Boucher and Sam Lewis, and their mentors, Gloria Quigley, Hillary Myers and Howie Hoff. During the process, the class will be visiting the Dover Temple, the Dover Greek Orthodox Church and Beverly, MA Church of the Nazarene. Please keep the confirmands and mentors in your thoughts and prayers through out the process.

CYF: Even the rainy weather could not keep CYF from enjoying a sleigh ride with Jim Brady on January 17th. Afterwards, the youth and leaders returned to church for their Christmas Yankee swap and dinner. It was a lot of fun for everyone. Our next meeting will be on January 31st. CYF is open to all youth 6th-12th grades. Please join us and bring a friend.

Super bowl Sub Sale: CYF and Mission trip will be holding the Super bowl sub sale again this year. The proceeds will go towards the Mission trip. Please support the trip by buying subs on 2/7, which you can enjoy during the annual meeting.

Applebee’s Pancake Breakfast: On March 6th, the CYF will be holding a pancake breakfast fundraiser at Applebee’s in Epping. The money will be used to support shipping soldier packages and other CYF events. CYF will be selling tickets in advance and appreciates your support.

Any questions regarding Christian Education programs, please contact one of the CE board members or myself.
